Kalmar Supplies Hybrid Straddle Carriers to New SLCT in Philippines

Kalmar Corporation has secured a significant contract with International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) to supply 12 hybrid straddle carriers for the new South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT) in Bauan International Port, Batangas, Philippines. The order, which also includes MyKalmar INSIGHT coverage for all machines, was booked in Kalmar’s third quarter 2026 order intake and is scheduled for delivery by the third quarter of 2027.

The SLCT, a major investment by ICTSI, is set to support industrial and manufacturing activities in the region. Once operational, the terminal will feature an 800-meter quay, 38 hectares of yard space, and an annual capacity of 1.6 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs). This project underscores ICTSI’s commitment to expanding its operations in the Philippines and enhancing its capabilities in container handling and storage.

Kalmar’s straddle carriers are designed to optimize efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The hybrid technology combines the benefits of both diesel and electric power, offering a flexible and sustainable solution for container terminals. The company will also provide a straddle carrier simulator for training purposes, ensuring that operators are well-prepared to handle the new equipment.
