Joe Pasternack's Legacy Ensures Veterans' Dreams Come True

PHOENIX, Sept. 24, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Joe Pasternack, a Vietnam veteran, dedicated his life to serving his fellow veterans after his military service. His final act of service was ensuring thousands of veterans and their families could experience the joy of live events. In 2013, Pasternack joined the Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), a nonprofit organization that provides free event tickets to veterans, active service members, and first responders.
Pasternack's passion for the Yankees and his commitment to his fellow veterans led him to regularly attend games through Vet Tix. His efforts were instrumental in growing the organization. By personally referring eligible members to join Vet Tix, he helped more than 1,800 veterans, service members, and first responders find the organization. This, in turn, helped them and their families create lasting memories through shared experiences.
Vet Tix has since grown into the nation's largest veteran service organization, serving over 2.8 million members and distributing over 41 million free event tickets since 2008.
Tragically, Pasternack passed away on August 3, 2023. However, his final gift to Vet Tix was a financial bequest that would continue creating unforgettable memories for veterans, service members, first responders, and their families. To honor Pasternack's extraordinary legacy, Vet Tix organized a special event on September 11, 12, and 13, where 360 lucky Vet Tix and 1st Tix members and their families were invited to attend the Yankees' games against the Mets at Yankee Stadium.
One of the beneficiaries of this event was Rafael, a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1968 to 1970. Rafael, diagnosed with a terminal illness, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share this experience with his family.
Pasternack's story is a testament to the enduring impact of service and the importance of giving back. His legacy continues to inspire others to support and serve veterans and their families. Through his dedication, Pasternack ensured that the joy of live events could be shared by those who have served our nation, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
