PHOENIX, Oct. 13, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Istios Health, a healthcare technology and clinical research company, has expanded its presence in Pittsburgh by partnering with Pittsburgh Gastroenterology Associates. This move brings Istios’s clinical research capabilities into the realm of gastroenterology, nephrology, and infectious disease, with a particular focus on the convergence of obesity, metabolic, cardiovascular, kidney, and liver disease research.

The partnership with Pittsburgh Gastroenterology Associates marks Istios’s fourth clinical research site in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Dr. David Limauro, a board-certified gastroenterologist, will lead the expansion of gastrointestinal (GI) research in the region. This partnership strengthens Istios’s growing cardiometabolic research platform in Pittsburgh, bringing together expertise from multiple specialties to support complex clinical research.

According to Nikos Nikolopoulos, CEO of Istios Health, the goal is to accelerate the development of new therapies by connecting specialty expertise, research infrastructure, and longitudinal clinical data.

Nick Carlucci, Chief Operating Officer of Istios Health, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership.

Istios Health’s expansion into Pittsburgh follows its growth since launching in June 2025. The company has grown to approximately 16 research sites across Arizona, Georgia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. By year-end, Istios expects to reach approximately 20 sites. The company is actively replicating its center-of-excellence model across key U.S. markets, adding complementary specialty practices to support the full continuum of cardiometabolic and immunology research.

The partnership with Pittsburgh Gastroenterology Associates is part of Istios’s broader strategy to integrate research operations and generate longitudinal clinical data. Through the combination of the practice’s clinical expertise and patient relationships with Istios’s Navigator platform, the company aims to support patient identification, trial planning, and real-world evidence initiatives. This collaboration is expected to provide a stronger foundation for protocol feasibility, site selection, faster activation, sustained enrollment, and long-term evidence generation.

For patients, the model brings research opportunities closer to the physicians and community practices already managing their care. This proximity is expected to enhance patient engagement and participation in clinical research, ultimately accelerating the development of new therapies.
