Ignition Launches WIP Billing and Integrated Time Features

Ignition, a leading AI revenue and billing automation platform founded in 2013, has introduced a new suite of features designed to streamline the workflow for professional firms. The company's latest release, WIP Billing and Integrated Time, aims to connect the work and revenue that run firms by integrating time tracking, work in progress (WIP) management, billing, payment, and performance insights into a single, connected workflow.
For many firms, the connection between these processes is often broken. Work is tracked in one place, billed in another, and profitability is pieced together after the fact. Ignition's new features aim to bridge this gap, allowing firms to record hours in Ignition or in the system they already use, with every entry staying connected to WIP, billing, and performance insights. This flexibility helps firms reduce reconciliation, make better billing decisions, and protect the economics of fixed-fee work.
The new features include:
- Ignition Time: A native time tracking feature that allows firms to manage time directly in Ignition using a native timer or timesheet. Team members can record billable and non-billable time against a client, service, or work type, then submit it for WIP review. This feature ensures that work is available for billing and performance analysis.
- Integrated Time: Designed for firms that prefer to keep projects and tasks in the system they already use. The external system remains the operational source, while Ignition receives normalized time for WIP, billing, payment, and performance insights. Current integrations include Karbon, Financial Cents, QuickBooks Time, XPM, and the Practice CS Desktop Connector. The Practice CS Desktop Connector is now available for firms running Practice CS on their own server or hosting it through Rightworks.
By preserving client, service, project or task, staff, date, duration, description, rate, and source context where available, Integrated Time helps firms use the same commercial workflow without creating duplicate entries or double billing. This feature is part of Ignition's commitment to an open ecosystem, allowing firms to keep the tech stack they want while benefiting from Ignition's data connections.
Performance insights are another key feature of WIP Billing. These insights help owners, partners, managers, and billing teams see and understand the connection between work and revenue. Firms can review open and aging WIP, realization, effective rate, margin, fixed-fee performance, and the impact of billing decisions. These capabilities help firms identify scope creep earlier, understand whether fixed-fee work is profitable, and make more informed decisions about pricing, renewals, and client service.
Ignition's platform currently empowers over 8,500 businesses to sell, bill, and get paid for their services with ease. Through WIP Billing and Integrated Time, the company continues to support its mission of transforming sales, billing, and payment processes. Since 2013, Ignition has managed relationships with over 2.4 million clients and earned more than $15.5 billion in revenue via its platform.
