DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX, October 9, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- HyProMag GmbH, a subsidiary of HyProMag USA LLC, has been selected as a Strategic Project by the European Union's Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA). This designation, among 46 other projects, aims to support the development of critical raw materials supply chains across Europe, particularly in the area of rare earth magnet recycling.
The European Commission has recognized the importance of rare earth magnet recycling as a crucial component of critical minerals supply chains. HyProMag GmbH's inclusion as a Strategic Project underscores the growing recognition of the need for recycling capacity in Europe. This development is seen as complementary to HyProMag USA's efforts to establish a domestic U.S. supply chain for recycled rare earth magnetic materials.
HyProMag USA LLC, a 50:50 joint venture between CoTec Holdings Corp. and HyProMag Limited, is developing advanced rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing operations. The company's proprietary HPMS (HyProMag Short-Loop) technology, which has been in development for over 15 years and has invested over US$100 million in research and development, is a key part of this effort. HPMS technology enables faster magnet-to-magnet short-loop recycling, using 88% less energy and reducing carbon emissions by 85% compared to conventional methods.
The HPMS technology is designed to accept a wide range of magnet-bearing feedstocks, including end-of-life electric vehicle motors, data-center and industrial equipment, consumer electronics, and manufacturing scrap. This approach allows for the recovery of magnet-grade material without the need for chemical processing, making the recycling process more efficient and environmentally friendly.
HyProMag GmbH's selection as a Strategic Project reflects the company's commitment to sustainable and efficient recycling practices.
HyProMag Limited is owned on a 79.4%/20.6% basis by Mkango Magnetic Materials Limited and CoTec. This ownership structure highlights the collaborative efforts between various stakeholders in the recycling and manufacturing sector. The company's focus on sustainable practices and its innovative technology position it well to contribute to the European Union's objectives of strengthening critical raw materials value chains and enhancing supply chain resilience.
In summary, HyProMag GmbH's selection as a Strategic Project by the European Union's CRMA is a significant milestone for the company and the broader recycling industry. This recognition not only highlights the importance of rare earth magnet recycling but also underscores HyProMag USA's commitment to establishing a secure and sustainable domestic supply chain for recycled rare earth magnetic materials.
