Hindustan Zinc's 3rd Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon Sets New Record

UDAIPUR, India, Sept. 8, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world's largest integrated zinc producer and among the top 10 silver producers globally, hosted the 3rd edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon in Udaipur, drawing a record 9,700 runners across on-ground and virtual formats. The event, which saw a 45% increase in participation from the previous edition, attracted runners from 27 Indian states and six countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Indonesia, and Kenya.

The marathon, themed around Udaipur's identity as Zinc City, celebrated the region's ancient zinc legacy dating back thousands of years. Organizers chose the picturesque backdrop of Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli ranges for the race. The event featured the 21.097 km Half Marathon, a 10 km race, and a 5 km category, along with a Champions Race for rural communities in Rajasthan. Mukesh Kumar emerged as the winner in the men's Half Marathon category, completing the course in 1:08:47, while Pooja secured the women's title with a time of 1:26:09.

In the 10 km race, Tehender clinched the men's title in 32:01, and Kumari Parru won the women's category in 36:49. Every participant received a Zinc Finisher Medal crafted from Hindustan Zinc's 99.99% pure zinc. The marathon also incorporated the #RunForZeroHunger initiative, adding a social dimension to the event.

CEO Mr. Amarendu Prakash highlighted the significance of the marathon, stating, "Seeing over 9,700 runners come together in Udaipur is a powerful reflection of how far this marathon has come in just three editions. Our ambition is to see India's Most Beautiful Marathon emerge among the country's most sought-after running experiences and take the spirit of Zinc City to the world."
