Abbie Bowen, co-founder of Guardian Angel AI, stated, "The goal of Guardian Angel isn't to replace a son, a daughter, or a caregiver. It's to take away some of the uncertainty between those moments when they can actually be there."

Traditional solutions like wearables or continuous camera feeds often come with tradeoffs. A wearable only works when worn, a conventional security camera requires continuous monitoring, and frequent phone calls can become intrusive. Full-time in-home care is often financially unrealistic before a parent needs extensive assistance.

Guardian Angel's approach is to fill the gap between these options, providing a balance between supervision and independence. The system analyzes video locally inside the home, rather than streaming it continuously. This ensures privacy while still providing alerts for situations such as detected falls, prolonged unusual stillness, nighttime wandering, or missed medications.
