Facilis Technology Unveils HUB 8.4 with Enhanced Security and Performance

Facilis Technology, a leading provider of shared storage and media asset management solutions, has unveiled significant upgrades to its HUB 8.4 platform, set to debut at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) Amsterdam 2026. The enhancements aim to deliver accelerated performance, enhanced security, and robust data protection features for media professionals.

At the heart of the new release, HUB 8.4 introduces Multi-Socket and Multi-Link technologies, boosting performance across various infrastructures. According to Jim McKenna, CEO of Facilis Technology, these innovations ensure that 10Gb and 25Gb workstation connectivity can be fully utilized on a single port. This means that Mac, Windows, and Linux workstations can achieve nearly full theoretical bandwidth of 10Gb, with consistent performance that eliminates common spikes and drops experienced with SMB shares.

Another key feature is the introduction of OAuth support for single sign-on (SSO) through popular identity and access management (IAM) providers like Entra ID, Okta, and Ping. This ensures user accounts are validated across multiple platforms, enhancing multi-factor authentication and conditional access to shared storage resources. Additionally, Facilis Technology has implemented "Lockdown mode," a security measure that obscures file systems from the server OS to prevent unauthorized access to critical data. This is complemented by client-side write and delete restrictions, enforced through Smart Access Rules, to provide an additional layer of data protection.

Facilis Technology will showcase these advancements alongside its FastTracker 3.8.6 tool, which boasts a redesigned, customizable interface with optimized layouts for logging, metadata tagging, and media review. Enhanced scalability and an improved player window offer crisp visibility for high-quality source and proxy footage. FastTracker 3.8.6 also integrates with Google’s AI platform, enabling automated tagging of objects, logos, text, signage, and spoken word across hundreds of languages, acting as a central hub for discovery across distributed teams.

To support the growing demands of modern media creation, Facilis Technology is partnering with ATTO Technology to offer next-generation Thunderbolt 5 adapters. These adapters, including the ATTO ThunderLink TLFC-5642 (64Gb Fibre Channel) and ThunderLink NS 5102 (100Gb Ethernet), deliver exceptional throughput for uncompressed 8K workflows when paired with the Facilis shared file system.
