DNO ASA drops plans to acquire Genel Energy plc

Oslo, 4 September 2026, Norwegian oil and gas company DNO ASA has announced it has no intention of making an offer to acquire Genel Energy plc, following a previous statement issued on 7 August 2026.
In a press release, DNO ASA stated that it had carefully considered the potential acquisition and has decided against pursuing the offer. The company, which operates in the North Sea, the Middle East, and West Africa, said it has now concluded its evaluation and will not proceed with the acquisition.
Founded in 1971, DNO ASA is one of Norway's oldest oil companies and was the first to list on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1981. With stakes in various licenses at different stages of exploration, development, and production, the company holds interests in Norway, the Kurdistan region of Iraq, the United Kingdom, Côte d’Ivoire, and Yemen.
DNO ASA's decision not to make an offer to Genel Energy plc comes after a period of consideration and evaluation. The company has stated that it will continue to focus on its existing operations and strategic priorities.
