Digital Skills Authority (DSA) has secured trademark protection for its Brilliance Awards® logo across all 27 European Union member states and Switzerland, a move that underscores the company's commitment to safeguarding its intellectual property in the face of increasing brand imitation. This milestone, which complements separate protection in Switzerland, covers approximately 460 million people, ensuring the official identity of the Brilliance Awards® is protected.
The logo, which combines a brain and lightbulb to symbolize intelligence, innovation, and creativity, was created in 2023 by DSA Founder and President Deborah Collier. The official emblem was developed by DSA's lead multimedia designer. This trademark protection coincides with DSA's tenth anniversary and marks 18 years since Collier first presented the first Brilliance Award in 2009.
In addition to trademark protection, DSA has also blockchain-secured its Heritage Collection (2009-2015) and Legacy Collection (2016-2025), preserving historical awards records and supporting intellectual property documentation. These collections include achievements associated with companies such as Instagram, Uber, Volkswagen, IKEA, and Warner Bros.
DSA is currently accepting entries for the Brilliance Awards® Europe 2027, which will launch a nine-region international celebration. The event will include an exclusive launch party in Barcelona in March 2027, followed by city-based awards celebrations in Madrid and other European host cities. The Rome 2027 Brilliance Awards® Europe Gala will present trophies to the winners, with regional winners qualifying for consideration for six global honours at the Louvre in Paris in 2028.
