David Perry, a Summerville, South Carolina-based singer-songwriter, has announced the release of his new single, "Here They Come." The track, inspired by the Theravada Buddhist Monks’ “Walk For Peace,” serves as a Latin-flavored homage to the movement, aiming to remind listeners that simple actions can have a significant impact.
Perry enlisted the help of Gino Castillo, a legendary Charleston, South Carolina percussionist, to provide the Latin grooved backdrop for the song. The composition features a flowing bass line by John Kennedy and intricate guitar work by John Holenko, creating a mellow and contemplative atmosphere. The song acts as a meditation on unity and peace, culminating in an uplifting vocal mantra that delivers the message, "Love Can Open Any Door."
In a statement, Perry expressed his hope that the song will serve as a gentle reminder that a simple idea can change things, gather momentum, and make a difference. "Here They Come" is set to be featured at the South Florida Folk and Acoustic Music Festival in February 2027, where Perry is a finalist in their National Songwriting Contest. He has also performed at the North Carolina Folk Festival and various music festivals along the east coast.
The single, "Here They Come," is a testament to Perry's personal storytelling, Americana roots, humor, empathy, and willingness to tackle social themes. It blends Latin grooves with a message of peace and unity, making it a unique addition to his repertoire.
