Cultural Cycle Celebrates Way of the Holy Grail in Teruel

The Way of the Holy Grail, a cultural association based in Aragon, Spain, is set to bring a series of educational and engaging events to seven municipalities in the province of Teruel. The initiative, which runs from September 11 to 19, 2026, aims to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the region through a series of conferences and lectures.
The programme, subsidized by the Government of Aragon under Order ECD/500/2026, will tour Báguena, San Martín del Río, Fuentes Claras, Caminreal, San Agustín, Albentosa, and La Puebla de Valverde. Each session will focus on the local interpretation of the Way of the Holy Grail, a pilgrimage route connecting the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña with the Cathedral of Valencia.
The events will be led by Joaquín Poquet from ArtCare Consulting, who will explore the historical and monumental heritage of each municipality, including churches, castles, hermitages, bridges, and archaeological sites. These lectures are designed to bring the local population closer to understanding the historical and cultural significance of the route, while also highlighting the unique heritage of each town.
The programme will kick off on Friday, September 11, at 6:00 p.m., in Báguena. On Saturday, September 12, there will be three sessions: San Martín del Río at 10:00 a.m., Fuentes Claras at 1:00 p.m., and Caminreal at 5:00 p.m. The cycle will continue on Sunday, September 13, with sessions in San Agustín at 1:00 p.m., and Albentosa at 5:00 p.m. The final event will take place on September 19, at 5:00 p.m., in La Puebla de Valverde.
The Way of the Holy Grail, established in 2002, has been working on creating and consolidating the land route, disseminating the history linked to the Holy Chalice, and contributing to the maintenance and knowledge of the Way itself. The association's efforts are part of a broader narrative, positioning the municipalities through which the route passes within a cultural framework of greater scope.
The historical tradition of the Holy Grail, currently kept in the Cathedral of Valencia, places a significant part of its history in Aragonese territory, particularly in Huesca and the Pyrenees, before its subsequent arrival in Valencia. This legacy forms the foundation of the association's work, contributing to the understanding and appreciation of the region's cultural heritage.
The events in Teruel are part of the association's ongoing mission to disseminate the history and cultural significance of the route.
