Comic Relief, the organization that uses comedy to address social issues, is set to celebrate 40 years of its flagship benefit evening, Comic Relief Live, at Carnegie Hall on October 19. The event, hosted by Emmy Award-winning comedian John Oliver, will feature performances by Mary Beth Barone, Zarna Garg, Josh Johnson, and Roy Wood Jr. Tickets for the sold-out event go on sale on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. ET/PT, and can be purchased on the organization’s website, comicrelief.org/live.
Since its inception in 1986, Comic Relief has used humor to break down barriers and raise funds for children and families facing poverty. This year’s event, which will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Comic Relief special, will see ServiceNow receive the Visionary Award. The honor recognizes organizations that use their platform and resources to make a significant impact on systemic change. Karen Pavlin, Chief Workforce Innovation Officer of ServiceNow, will accept the award on behalf of the company.
"Comedy is an unmatched tool for breaking through the noise and building awareness," said Michele Ganeless, Chief Executive Officer of Comic Relief. "This year, we are using the power of humor to shift public understanding and deliver critical resources to those in need. We are excited to welcome our supporters to Carnegie Hall to celebrate this milestone and to raise funds that will directly support our mission."
The event will also launch Comic Relief’s "Not Our Problem" PSA campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children and families in poverty. Additionally, Comic Relief is expanding its Neighborhood Festivals series, which connects communities and empowers people to get involved in local solutions.
The event is being co-chaired by Patrick Vien, Group Managing Director, International at A+E Global Media, and Dave Bernath, Chief Executive Officer at Wurl. Together, they lead a distinguished committee of entertainment, business, and philanthropic leaders committed to furthering Comic Relief’s mission.
Tickets are available for purchase at comicrelief.org/live, Carnegie Hall’s website at carnegiehall.org, by calling (212) 247-7800, or at the Carnegie Hall Box Office on 57th Street and Seventh Avenue. Proceeds from the ticket sales will directly fund Comic Relief’s work to shift narratives, advance public education, and resource grantee partners providing essential services to children and families in need.
Comic Relief’s mission to use comedy for social change is more critical than ever, as the organization continues to address the growing needs of children and families across America. The event at Carnegie Hall is a testament to the enduring impact of Comic Relief and its commitment to making a difference in the lives of those facing poverty.
