Coloplast Opens Largest Manufacturing Site in Felgueiras, Portugal

Coloplast, a global leader in continence care products, has inaugurated its largest manufacturing site to date in Felgueiras, Portugal. The new facility, a two-floor structure spanning 50,000 square meters, is expected to employ more than 800 people in the region and represents an investment of around EUR 100 million.
The new site, which began construction in the summer of 2024, has been operational since the company started planning the site in 2021. According to Allan Rasmussen, Executive Vice President of Global Operations, the decision to establish this manufacturing hub in Portugal was driven by several factors.
The inauguration of the Coloplast Felgueiras manufacturing site took place on October 29th, with representatives from national and local authorities, Coloplast leadership, and employees celebrating the completion of the site. The event marked a significant milestone in the company’s mission to help those with intimate healthcare needs. Since the planning began in 2021, Coloplast has experienced a very constructive dialogue with the Portuguese authorities, both on the national and local levels, to ensure the smooth establishment of the site.
The new facility is part of Coloplast’s broader strategy to meet growing global demand for continence care products. The company currently has a global manufacturing network with high volume production sites in Hungary, China, and Costa Rica, as well as specialised production in the US, France, Germany, Sweden, and Iceland. With the new site in Portugal operational, Coloplast has sufficient production capacity to reach its targets within the current 2030 strategy period without constructing additional manufacturing sites.
