CIRA Launches Fourth Season of "What’s Up with the Internet?" Podcast Exploring Canada’s Creator Economy

OTTAWA, Ontario, Sept. 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- CIRA, the national not-for-profit organization that manages the .CA domain, has announced the launch of the fourth season of its award-winning podcast, "What’s up with the internet?" The podcast, hosted by Takara Small, will explore the evolution of Canada’s creator economy, tracing the growth of content creation from early bloggers and YouTube vloggers to today’s multi-platform creators.
Small, a Canadian journalist and radio host, will delve into how creators are reshaping traditional media and public discourse, building communities, and making a living online. The new season will also examine the challenges faced by creators, particularly those who operate on platforms they do not control. These challenges include the pressure of algorithms and constant visibility, as well as unique monetization issues.
Guests on the podcast include Sue Gardner, a journalist and commentator; Rebecca and Natalie Davey of Ceres Productions; Marsha Shandur, a presentation-writing and storytelling coach; Aly Smalls, a travel creator; and Anesti Danelis, a comedian. The podcast aims to highlight the stories of Canadian creators who are building careers and audiences under different rules than their counterparts in the U.S. and U.K.
