Cabka, a company specializing in transforming hard-to-recycle plastic waste into reusable transport packaging (RTP), has achieved a significant milestone in its decarbonization journey. On October 19, 2026, the Amsterdam-based firm announced that its near-term science-based emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation, which builds on Cabka’s existing progress, provides a clear and measurable pathway for reducing emissions across the company’s operations and value chain.

Cabka committed to setting near-term science-based emissions reduction targets in 2024, aiming to achieve validation by 2026. The company’s validated targets include a 79.79% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, starting from a 2022 base year. Additionally, Cabka has set a target to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and the end-of-life treatment of sold products by 35.0% by 2036, also from a 2022 base year.

From 2022 to 2025, Cabka made significant strides in reducing its market-based scope 1 and 2 emissions, decreasing them by approximately 66%, primarily driven by the switch to renewable electricity across its sites. This progress represents more than four-fifths of the distance to the validated 2030 target. Over the same period, total reported scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, including exclusions, fell by approximately 15%. Scope 3 emissions remain the largest share of Cabka’s footprint and are the focus of the 2036 target.

Alexander Masharov, CEO of Cabka, emphasized the importance of this milestone.

Cabka’s broader company ambition includes achieving 100% renewable energy and carbon-neutral own operations by 2030. This ambition goes beyond the validated targets and continues to guide the company’s investment choices. The firm is committed to reducing emissions across its operations and value chain, with circularity, renewable electricity, energy efficiency, and material choices at the heart of its approach.
