BC Farmers Get Ready for Cleanfarms Pesticide and Medication Collection

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta, Sept. 25, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Cleanfarms, an agricultural producer responsibility organization, is gearing up for its annual Unwanted Pesticides and Old Livestock/Equine Medications (UPLM) program this fall. Operating from October 6 to October 16, the program will offer farmers in British Columbia and other regions a safe and free way to dispose of unwanted commercial-class pesticides and obsolete livestock/equine medications.
This year, the program will run in eight single-day collection events, providing greater convenience to BC farmers. The events will take place in four locations in the Fraser Valley and four on Vancouver Island. New to the program this year is a collection event in Port Alberni, expanding the reach of the initiative.
Heather Bradley, Program Coordinator for UPLM, highlighted the program's benefits.
The Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI) also expressed its support for the program.
Farmers are encouraged to visit cleanfarms.ca/materials/unwanted-pesticides-animal-meds to learn more about the "what's in" and "what's out" items for these collection events. The program will operate from 9 AM to 4 PM daily during the specified dates.
The collection events will take place in the following locations:
- Abbotsford, Terralink, October 8 - Delta, Nutrien Ag Solutions, October 6 - Delta, Terralink, October 9 - Langley, Professional Ag Distribution Inc., October 7 - Cumberland, Comox Valley WM, October 15 - Duncan, Bings Creek Recycling Centre, October 13 - Port Alberni, Fall Fair Grounds, October 14 - Victoria, Hartland Landfill, October 16
Cleanfarms is dedicated to contributing to a healthier environment and a sustainable future by recovering and recycling agricultural and related industry plastics, packaging, and products. The organization is funded by its members in the crop protection, seed, fertilizer, animal health medication, peat moss, animal bedding, feed, ag plastics, and maple tubing industries.
