Bank of Åland Plc is set to expand its Swedish presence by opening new offices in Haparanda and Luleå, marking its first foray into northern Sweden. The bank announced its plans to establish these operations on September 4, 2026, as part of its ongoing growth strategy in the region.

The Haparanda office will cater to both local customers and those with cross-border interests, serving individuals and businesses that have ties to or operate in both Sweden and Finland. This move aligns with Bank of Åland’s extensive experience in handling cross-border banking, providing services and advice tailored to customers who operate across the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Luleå office will specialize in Private Banking and Premium Banking, targeting wealthy individuals, entrepreneurs, and families seeking sophisticated investment and wealth management advice. The bank aims to provide these high-net-worth clients with comprehensive solutions for investments, wealth planning, and financing.

Bank of Åland currently operates in northern Finland through its office in Oulu, and the new offices in Haparanda and Luleå are expected to open in early 2027, signaling the bank’s commitment to expanding its service footprint in the region.

Peter Wiklöf, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Bank of Åland Plc, commented, "These new offices represent a significant step in our strategic expansion into northern Sweden. We are excited to bring our expertise in cross-border banking and premium private banking services to these communities, offering our customers the same high level of service and support they have come to expect from us."

The opening of these new offices is anticipated to enhance Bank of Åland’s ability to serve a broader customer base, particularly those with operations or investments spanning both Sweden and Finland.
