Barcelona, Spain and New York, NY, Nov. 04, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- One year after the launch of the Coastal Resilience Scorecard, ARISE-US and its partners have taken a significant step forward in advancing coastal resilience efforts. On November 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM CET, the organization announced the formation of the Coastal Resilience Scorecard Advisory Board and the commencement of Phase 2 of the initiative. This phase involves the digitization of the Scorecard with the support of TECHG-X, a climate tech startup.

The Advisory Board, consisting of eight founding members, aims to enhance the Scorecard’s utility by providing a structured framework for cities to identify and prioritize coastal resilience projects. The board’s members bring diverse expertise and perspectives to the table, ensuring a comprehensive approach to coastal resilience. These members include ARISE-US, the U.S. network of UNDRR’s Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies; World Ocean Council, the convener through its Centre of Excellence for Coastal Resilience; Hapke Coastal, a developer of the Scorecard; Sandmont Natural Capital, a climate and resilience finance expert; Global Development College, which focuses on capacity building and education; Jacobs, a global engineering and technology firm; Waterfront Alliance, champions of waterfront resilience and design standards; and Okhtapus, a global replication platform for urban and coastal resilience solutions.

The Scorecard, which was completed in November 2025, is a free, open-source assessment tool grounded in the UNDRR Ten Essentials for Making Cities Resilient and the Sendai Framework. It was developed by a global team of volunteer experts and provides cities with a practical framework to evaluate their readiness for coastal disasters and chronic coastal stresses. Cities can self-score from 0 to 5 against each of the Ten Essentials, with the lowest scores indicating priority areas for action.

Phase 2 of the initiative will see the Scorecard transformed into a digital platform. Working with TECHG-X, the Advisory Board will develop a digital tool that will enable city teams to collaborate across departments, score their readiness, and identify where to act first. The digital platform will support global coastal resilience pilots, building on the Scorecard’s first pilot assessment in the Pacific Islands.

The Waterfront Alliance, a regional nonprofit leading efforts to create thriving, resilient, and accessible waterfronts across the New York, New Jersey harbor and beyond, is also a key partner in this initiative.
