ARGENT LNG has signed a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract with Tecnimont USA, marking a significant milestone in the development of its export facility project. The agreement, announced on 21 January 2026, defines Tecnimont’s role as an engineering and technology integrated services provider for the project.
The FEED contract includes the development of key permitting documentation and support for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) permitting process. Upon completion of the FEED, the project is expected to transition into the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phase, following the finalization of FERC and the client’s Final Investment Decision (FID).
The project, located in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, will have a total capacity of 25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and is designed to be resilient to hurricane conditions. It will connect abundant U.S. natural gas to markets across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and West Africa. Argent LNG holds long-term authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy to export 25 MTPA to Free Trade Agreement nations for 20 years under DOE/HGEO Order No. 5447, with its non-FTA application pending in Docket No. 26-28-LNG. The project is advancing through the FERC pre-filing process (Docket No. PF25-11) and is targeting first cargo in 2030.
MAIRE S.p.A., a leading engineering group, will provide technical support to the FERC permitting process. The company operates through two business units: Integrated E&C Solutions and Sustainable Technology Solutions. With operations in around 50 countries, MAIRE employs approximately 11,300 people and is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (ticker “MAIRE”).
The project is part of Argent LNG's strategy to build the next generation of American LNG export capacity. Its flagship facility is designed from the ground up for resilience, scalability, and speed to market. Located at the heart of the Gulf of America's offshore energy corridor, the facility will leverage the region's abundant natural gas resources to meet global energy demands.
The collaboration between Argent LNG and MAIRE underscores the growing importance of LNG infrastructure in the United States. As the U.S. continues to expand its role in the global energy market, projects like this one are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring energy security and supporting international trade.
