APIA Scholars Announces 2026-2027 Scholarship Cohort

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- APIA Scholars, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students, has announced its 2026-2027 scholarship cohort. This year, the organization is supporting over 1,000 students across the United States and the Pacific, with a focus on those most in need.
Among the new cohort of 493 Scholars, 90% are first-generation college students, a figure that has increased from 88% in the previous year. Additionally, 61% of the Scholars are at or below the federal poverty level, a slight decrease from 62% the year before. The diversity of the cohort is also noteworthy, with 82 ethnicities represented, compared to 52 in the previous year.
The organization has also introduced several pilot initiatives to support its Scholars. The Scholar Relief Fund provides financial flexibility for unforeseen needs, while the Career Development Fund offers additional support for career advancement. APIA Scholars continues to invest in Scholar Enrichment programs and career-building initiatives, fostering a strong foundation of skills and a supportive community for students on their college-to-career journeys.
APIA Scholars has a rigorous selection process, awarding scholarships to only 6% of applicants each year. This underscores the critical need for organizations like APIA Scholars to provide financial assistance to high-need, high-achieving students.
