The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) has been recognized for its efforts in combating health misinformation and educating consumers about the importance of saving natural teeth. The organization was honored with four PRSA Chicago Skyline Awards of Excellence, highlighting its integrated communications strategy and innovative approaches to reach consumers with evidence-based information.
AAE’s "Truth vs. Trends: How One Association Combats Trending Fear-Based Information" initiative recognized the association’s ongoing work to identify and respond to misleading and fear-based information about root canal treatment and oral health. This effort provides patients, members, and other stakeholders with credible, evidence-based resources to combat misinformation.
This campaign combined earned media, social media, influencer partnerships, patient education, and member engagement to encourage consumers to value their natural teeth and understand the specialized role of endodontists. The pinnacle of this campaign was Save Your Tooth Month 2025.
This campaign made credible scientific information accessible to consumers and equipped members with a toolkit of resources to address misinformation effectively.
The recognition comes amid AAE's continued expansion of its public education strategy. The Association has increasingly combined traditional media relations with social media, influencer collaborations, patient resources, and search- and AI-optimized content to reach audiences beyond traditional dental channels. Through the Worth Saving campaign and AAE's broader misinformation efforts, consumers are encouraged to seek credible sources when making decisions about their dental health and to consult an endodontist when experiencing tooth pain, dental trauma, or other conditions involving the inside of the tooth.
The awards were presented at the organization's annual Skyline Awards Gala on September 17 at Venue West in Chicago.
