PASADENA, Calif., Sept. 4, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., a leading owner, operator, and developer of collaborative Megacampus ecosystems, has underscored its commitment to advancing blood cancer research and treatment through strategic investments and partnerships. This comes as the company highlights its role during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, a time when attention is drawn to the critical need for further research and patient support.
According to Blood Cancer United, approximately 9.4% of all new cancer diagnoses in the United States in 2025 will be blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. These cancers originate in blood-forming tissues, such as the bone marrow or immune system cells, and remain a significant cause of cancer-related deaths. Despite advancements in survival rates, with over one million people in the U.S. living with or in remission from blood cancers, ongoing investment and collaboration are essential.
Peter Moglia, CEO and chief investment officer of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., emphasized the company's dedication to supporting life-saving therapies. "Blood Cancer Awareness Month is not just about recognition, but a call to action to accelerate research, improve access, and support patients and their families," he said. "We are honored to partner with leading nonprofits and deeply proud of our mission-critical role in enabling tenants and investments to develop groundbreaking treatments."
One of Alexandria's most notable tenants, Juno Therapeutics, based in Seattle, has been a pioneer in CAR-T cell therapy. Juno's work has significantly advanced the science behind Breyanzi®, an FDA-approved CAR-T cell therapy for relapsed or refractory B-cell blood cancers. The therapy has received approvals for multiple lymphoma indications and is marketed by Bristol Myers Squibb. Alexandria Venture Investments was among the early backers of Juno, which went public in 2014 with an initial market value of around $2.2 billion before being acquired by Celgene in 2018, and later by Bristol Myers Squibb in 2019.
For over a decade, Alexandria has partnered with numerous nonprofits dedicated to blood cancer research, patient advocacy, and access. Notable collaborations include the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), Blood Cancer United, the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In 2012, Alexandria began its partnership with the MMRF, with Joel Marcus, executive chairman and founder of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., serving on its board from 2014 to 2017. The company is proud to support the MMRF at the nonprofit's Blood Cancer Awareness event at the Alexandria Center for Life Science, New York City megacampus this month.
Alexandria's commitment extends beyond financial support. The company and its employees actively participate in community service initiatives, such as donating blood, platelets, or bone marrow. Alexandria also organizes regular blood drives at its collaborative campuses for both its employees and tenants, fostering a culture of giving back.
Through these efforts, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., continues to play a vital role in the advancement of blood cancer research and treatment, ensuring that its tenants and investments have the resources needed to develop life-changing therapies.
