Aignostics Launches PathoSearch for Pathology Case Comparison

Aignostics, an artificial intelligence company based in Berlin and New York, has launched an early-access version of PathoSearch, a visual search engine designed to help pathologists quickly find and compare diagnosed pathology cases. The tool aims to streamline the diagnostic process, particularly for rare and complex cases that can be challenging to resolve.

PathoSearch allows pathologists to upload a single screenshot of a region of interest from a hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) slide. The system then retrieves morphologically similar, diagnosed reference cases from its proprietary multi-center reference database, powered by embeddings from Aignostics' pathology foundation model, Atlas 2, co-developed with Mayo Clinic. Each result is traceable to a real, diagnosed case, annotated and validated by pathologists and often confirmed by molecular testing.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Simon Schallenberg, a pathologist at Charité, Universitätsmedizin Berlin, having comparable diagnosed cases from PathoSearch available immediately can significantly improve the diagnostic process.

The database currently references over 310,000 whole slide images drawn from more than 35,000 cases, covering over 300 diagnostic entities and 27+ organs. The coverage follows the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumours, with a focus on malignant tumours, and currently spans five organ groups: thoracic, digestive, soft tissue and bone, female genital, and urinary and male genital. Aignostics plans to expand full coverage to all WHO classified malignancies.

PathoSearch is free during the early access period, and pathologists can join the waitlist at www.aignostics.com/products/pathosearch. The tool is also available for use within image management systems, with the first integration now live on Techcyte Fusion® AP.
