Zefiro Methane Corp., a North American environmental services company specializing in methane abatement and the plugging of orphaned and end-of-life oil and gas wells, has secured a significant contract worth $11.5 million through June 2029. The contract, awarded by an environmental protection department in the Great Lakes region, will see Zefiro perform well-plugging services over the next three years, starting in November 2026.

Under the terms of the contract, Zefiro must spend approximately $3 million between November 2026 and June 30, 2027. The remaining $8.5 million is expected to be spent between July 2027 and June 2029. This contract addition bolsters Zefiro’s growing portfolio of environmental remediation projects in key markets across the United States, particularly in the northeastern region and newly added states.

Zefiro Methane Corp. has been expanding its operations and capabilities through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. The company recently secured a three-year, $19.6 million Construction Manager at Risk contract from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to address approximately 200 high-priority marginal wells. Additionally, Zefiro has been securing plugging contracts from both the private and public sectors, further solidifying its market leadership.

Catherine Flax, Zefiro’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the significance of the new contract. "We are pleased to add this three-year contract award to our growing backlog, reflecting our market leadership position in many regions where we operate," she said. "Having recently expanded our equipment fleet and crews to address a widening opportunity set, Zefiro is better positioned than ever to capitalize on these large-scale contracts, as bipartisan federal funding continues and private sector demand remains strong."

Flax further elaborated on the strategic benefits of multi-year contracts. "These multi-year contracts provide a more predictable revenue base, enabling us to strategically allocate our rigs and team members to optimize utilization, increase margins, and identify opportunities to supplement our capabilities as needed," she stated.

Zefiro Methane Corp. is vertically integrated across the well lifecycle, offering services such as measurement and monitoring, plugging and abandonment, site restoration, and carbon credit origination. The company serves government and private-sector customers across 13 U.S. states, leveraging its expertise and resources to address the environmental challenges associated with oil and gas well management.

With a focus on sustainable shareholder value creation, Zefiro Methane Corp. continues to expand its operations and services, positioning itself as a key player in the environmental remediation sector. The company’s strategic approach and growing portfolio of contracts underscore its commitment to addressing the environmental challenges posed by oil and gas infrastructure.
