Zefiro Methane Corp Awarded Three Federally Funded Well Plugging Projects

Zefiro Methane Corp., a North American environmental services company, has been awarded three federally funded well-plugging projects in Ohio and Pennsylvania, totaling approximately $1.9 million. The projects, covering 12 orphaned wells, will be carried out by the company's subsidiary, Plants & Goodwin, Inc.

The first two projects, Trumbull 3F and Lake 18F, are located in Ohio and will involve plugging four wells each. Zefiro was the sole bidder for the Lake 18F project, and both awards are expected to bring in approximately $1.47 million in combined revenue. The average cost per well in Ohio, as published by the state's Orphan Well Program, is $129,997.93. Zefiro's projects are expected to command a premium of more than 40%, reflecting the company's ability to offer top-tier work.

The third project, located in Pennsylvania, involves plugging four wells. These wells have lower construction costs and overhead expenses compared to those in Ohio, and the project is expected to generate at least $435,000 in revenue. Zefiro was also the sole bidder for this project, and the wells are situated within a five-minute drive of the company's Bradford, Pennsylvania headquarters. This proximity is expected to minimize mobilization and operating overhead costs.

Management at Zefiro Methane Corp. expects work on these projects to commence in December 2026 or January 2027. The terms of the government contracts allow Zefiro to perform the work over the following 12 months, providing the company with scheduling flexibility. This flexibility enables Zefiro to prioritize time-sensitive private-sector work on a fast-response basis while integrating these federally funded projects into slower periods, supporting year-round utilization of crews and equipment.
