LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Youth for Human Rights International and United for Human Rights have launched a global call to action for Human Rights Day 2026, aiming to mark the occasion with 500 events in 78 countries. The campaign, which runs through December, commemorates the 78th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, and the 25th anniversary of Youth for Human Rights International.

The organizations are mobilizing chapters, educators, volunteers, and human rights advocates across the globe to promote the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Planned activities include human rights marches and peace walks, petition drives, seminars, concerts, art exhibitions, and school programs. Any individual, school, club, business, or nonprofit can participate in these events.

Everyone who submits plans will receive the Human Rights Day online toolkit, which includes step-by-step guides for organizing a successful activity. Additionally, participants can request free human rights educational materials for their events.

The campaign is encouraging participants to be creative. Suggested formats include a human rights march or peace walk through a town or city, a petition drive calling for action on a local or global human rights issue, a seminar, panel, or workshop for students, professionals, or community groups, a concert, film screening, or art exhibition built around the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration, and a classroom lesson or school-wide activity teaching young people their rights.

The organizations are dedicated to teaching young people about human rights and inspiring them to become advocates for tolerance and peace. Youth for Human Rights International, founded in 2001, uses free educational materials, including the award-winning 30 Rights, 30 Ads public service announcements, and the Story of Human Rights documentary, in schools and youth programs worldwide.

United for Human Rights, a nonprofit organization, provides free human rights education resources and campaign tools to individuals, educators, organizations, and governments. The campaign runs through December, with awareness activities taking place on or around Human Rights Day, December 10, 2026. Updates and participating events will be shared on the organizations' websites and social media channels throughout the campaign.
