WEST FORK, Ark., Sept. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Xtremis, a company based in Devils Den, Arkansas, has emerged victorious in the Spectrum Strike Prize Challenge, a competition organized by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to modernize the U.S. military's approach to managing the electromagnetic spectrum. The platform, spectrumOS, was selected from 43 respondents and demonstrated its capabilities in a live, hands-on event at Fort Carson, Colorado.
The challenge aimed to address the longstanding issue of lengthy authorization processes for military spectrum use, which can take between 75 to 180 days. These delays are increasingly problematic in the fast-paced environment of modern warfare. spectrumOS, Xtremis' spectrum management and orchestration platform, was designed to automate and streamline these processes, significantly reducing the time required for planning and coordination.

spectrumOS combines advanced artificial intelligence, software automation, physics-based radio-frequency modeling, and real-time sensor data to accelerate data processing, modeling, and coordination. It enables military decision-makers to act with unprecedented speed and accuracy in complex electromagnetic environments, while still retaining human authority over critical decisions.
This win follows other recent milestones for Xtremis, including its selection for the Advanced Spectrum Coexistence (ASC) program and participation in the Army's Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PCC6) experiment. The company's spectrum warfare work across the Department of War has been ongoing, with its Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Reconnaissance (ADSR) system operating continuously with U.S. military and allied units since 2023.
The demand for spectrum management is expected to grow significantly as the Department of War escalates the deployment of spectrum-intensive systems. This challenge is not limited to military applications; the commercial telecommunications and wireless industry also faces similar constraints. Xtremis' dual-use technology can provide the necessary observation, verification, and assurance to reduce interference and support more intensive, authorized spectrum sharing. This capability can strengthen military spectrum advantage while also helping telecommunications providers expand their capacity across 5G, emerging 6G, and other wireless services.
