ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 2, 2026, Xitron, a subsidiary of Hybrid Software Group, has introduced two new products to its K2 workflow family: K2D-X, a workflow solution tailored for digital print production, and K2 3.0, the latest version of its production workflow platform. These additions reflect Xitron’s ongoing commitment to providing open, vendor-independent solutions that enable print providers to customize their production environments according to their specific needs.
Xitron’s announcement comes at a time when print providers operate in diverse production environments, each with unique workflow requirements. Many commercial printers use a unified workflow like K2 to support offset, digital, and hybrid production. However, others have invested heavily in multiple digital presses, each controlled by its own Digital Front End (DFE). As these digital environments become more complex, maintaining a consistent prepress workflow becomes increasingly challenging. K2D-X addresses this issue by preparing incoming PDF files before they reach the press, ensuring they are preflighted, corrected, normalized, and imposed into press-ready PDF files.
Designed for facilities with multiple digital presses and DFEs, K2D-X streamlines the prepress process. It standardizes prepress upstream, allowing print providers to prepare each job once and then deliver production-ready PDF files to the appropriate DFE. This solution preserves existing investments in presses and DFEs while providing a common workflow for all jobs, regardless of the manufacturer.
Paul Napolitano, Product Manager at Xitron, explained, "Digital print providers have invested significantly in expanding their production capabilities over the past decade. K2D-X provides a common workflow that prepares jobs once and delivers production-ready PDF files wherever they're needed, without requiring them to replace their existing equipment."
K2 3.0, the latest version of Xitron’s flagship workflow platform, also enhances the company’s product lineup. It introduces expanded workflow automation, enhanced job management, streamlined deployment, and improved third-party integration. These features reduce manual intervention and increase production flexibility, making it easier for print providers to manage their operations.
Both K2D-X and K2 3.0 will be showcased at the Hybrid Software booth, C1371, during the PRINTING United Expo 2026. Xitron’s products continue to support its mission of offering open workflow solutions that allow print providers to choose the best presses, DFEs, and production technologies for their businesses, rather than being limited by a single vendor’s ecosystem.
