AMSTERDAM, Sept. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- At the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2026 in Amsterdam, XGRIDS showcased a groundbreaking workflow that transforms physical locations into photorealistic digital environments, revolutionizing media production. The company’s technology, which uses spatial scanners and cameras, enables production teams to capture and recreate real-world locations in virtual environments, streamlining the process of creating immersive content.

During the IBC session, XGRIDS demonstrated how its 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) technology can be integrated into live production workflows. Product Manager CM Fey highlighted the workflow’s potential, showing how captured environments can be used for scene composition, camera blocking, and extended reality (XR) and integrated computer-generated imagery (ICVFX) applications. This approach allows production teams to revisit and adapt captured environments for various creative needs, making the process more efficient and versatile.

XGRIDS’ technology is already being applied across media and entertainment. At the 2026 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards, PortalCam, a key component of XGRIDS’ solution, won four categories. Additionally, South Korea’s SBS integrated 3DGS and XR into live news broadcasts through the XGRIDS LCC Plugin for Unreal Engine and Pixotope. The company also showcased LCC Scan, which brings local, on-device 3DGS creation to iPhone, allowing for the capture of people, objects, and spaces as interactive 3D content.

Filmmaker and VFX supervisor Amir Ovadia Steklov presented “3DGS in Film Production” at the IBC, demonstrating how PortalCam captured a spaceship film set and incorporated the resulting 3DGS environment into a cinematic VFX workflow. This integration highlights the versatility of XGRIDS’ technology in both live production and film production, opening up new possibilities for how reality is captured, represented, and used in various media formats.

XGRIDS’ workflow is designed to make the process of turning physical locations into digital environments more direct and efficient. By leveraging spatial scanners and cameras, the company enables production teams to create photorealistic, navigable 3DGS scenes that can be seamlessly integrated into production environments. This approach not only saves time but also enhances the creative potential of virtual production, making it a valuable tool for media and entertainment professionals.

As spatial capture becomes more accessible, XGRIDS is at the forefront of bridging the physical and digital worlds, providing a streamlined path from captured environments to digital production assets. The company’s technology is compatible with major production platforms, including Pixotope, Aximmetry, Disguise, and nDisplay, ensuring broad applicability and integration into existing workflows.
