On July 21, 2026, the world's largest matched pair of flawless, unheated Paraiba tourmalines will go up for auction at Sotheby’s, marking another milestone in the global jewelry market. These gemstones, known as the Kat Florence Lumina matched pair, have garnered significant attention from both experts and collectors.
Earlier this year, on June 19, 2026, Bellerophon Gemlab, a French gemological laboratory, awarded the Kat Florence Lumina matched pair the Bellerophon Privilege Award, recognizing their "extremely rare" quality. This accolade came just a few weeks after Gübelin Gem Lab, a Swiss gem laboratory, gave the same set an 'Outstanding' score and a highly unique 92.1-point rating.
"The possession of such a pair of natural Paraiba Tourmalines is a truly significant privilege," said Martial Curti, CEO and Founder of Bellerophon Gemlab. "Exceptional in both size and quality, these magnificent Paraiba Tourmalines represent extraordinary rarity."
Kat Florence, the gem artist behind the matched pair, has made a name for herself by setting records in the auction market. This latest offering is her ninth record piece to go to auction, following her eighth, a 424.80-carat flawless tanzanite necklace, which will also be auctioned at Sotheby’s on September 17, 2026. The tanzanite piece, named the Kat Florence Tanzanite and Diamond Pendant Necklace, was previously the largest flawless tanzanite to ever be offered at auction.
Back in February 2026, Gübelin Gem Lab also certified the tanzanite piece, granting it an 'Outstanding' grading with a rare Gübelin score of 91.9. Kat Florence, who holds the previous flawless tanzanite auction record for her 423.56-carat Namunyak necklace, has demonstrated a relentless pursuit of perfection and beauty in her artistic craft.
Kat Florence, a globally renowned jewelry house, has a unique vision for showcasing her exquisite gemstones. In her hometown of Canada, where she grew up and later opened her worldwide rare gem atelier, Kat Florence has designed The Kat Florence Hotel. This hotel serves as a hidden getaway for her celebrity and VIP gemstone clients, offering them a luxurious experience that includes a rotating collection of her most prized gemstones displayed throughout the hotel's historic limestone walls.
"The Living Room" at The Kat Florence Hotel has been transformed into a living gallery, featuring works such as the largest flawless 424.8-carat Royal Velvet Blue Tanzanite, the largest flawless unheated Paraiba, and the world's largest flawless 52.48-carat Jeremejevite. Unlike traditional museum displays, these extraordinary works provide inviting moments of unexpected discovery for Kat's guests.
The Kat Florence Lumina matched pair and the Kat Florence Tanzanite and Diamond Pendant Necklace are now completing their final tour before the September auction. Sotheby’s has organized exhibitions in key cities, including Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Taichung, before the pieces go under the hammer in Hong Kong on September 17, 2026.
