WhenWeLove Named 2026 Best of Texas Award Winner

WhenWeLove, a Fort Worth-based nonprofit organization, has been named the 2026 Best of Texas Award winner. This recognition highlights the unique approach the organization takes in addressing homelessness, focusing on building trust and restoring hope through personal relationships.

The organization's team works closely with individuals experiencing homelessness, learning about the root causes of their situations and providing the necessary resources and skills to help them regain self-sufficiency. This includes training and transportation support to help individuals secure permanent housing.

One such success story is that of Dave, who, after years on the streets and disconnected from his family and hope, was able to move into housing through the consistent relationships and encouragement provided by WhenWeLove. Dave was able to reconnect with loved ones and begin rebuilding his life.

The organization's commitment to its mission extends beyond individual support. In early 2023, WhenWeLove acquired the Dream Center Fort Worth, a 23,000-square-foot facility that will offer a range of services to help more families. These services include life skills and financial coaching, family case management, and youth programs. The center's expansion is a significant step in the organization's ongoing efforts to support those in need.

Gary Wilkerson, the Executive Director of WhenWeLove, expressed that the award belongs to every volunteer, partner, and neighbor who has chosen to walk alongside someone in need.
