Wesdome Gold Mines Expands Mineralized System at Kiena Mine

Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. has announced significant progress in its exploration activities at the Kiena mine, near Val-d'Or, Quebec. The company has reported a new drilling result that substantially expands the known mineralized system at Shawkey 10, a key area within the Kiena East corridor.

According to the latest drilling results, hole SH-26-001 intersected 3.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 106.5 meters, uncapped, and 2.6 g/t gold over the same length when capped. This result is a follow-up to the 2021 drilling, which intersected 2.3 g/t gold over 72.0 meters. The new drilling has more than doubled the grade and thickness of the mineralized zone, significantly increasing the target volume at Shawkey 10.

The expanded host rock, interpreted to be diorite, has been more than doubled in thickness, from approximately 80 meters to over 200 meters. This expansion is supported by previous drilling and geological similarities observed at Shawkey Mine and the Dubuisson Zone. The company believes that these findings suggest the potential for a broader Kiena East mineralized corridor.

The company's exploration program at Shawkey 10 is designed to improve the understanding of whether the historically separate mineralized areas, including Shawkey 10, Shawkey Mine, 134, and Dubuisson, form part of a broader connected system. If demonstrated, this could have significant implications for the long-term resource potential of the Kiena East area.

Jono Lawrence, Senior Vice President of Exploration and Resources, added, "Hole SH-26-001 was designed to follow up the broad mineralization intersected in hole S-21-831 using a revised geological and structural model informed by recent geophysical work and geological observations from the surrounding Shawkey and Dubuisson areas. The new hole intersected 3.1 g/t Au over 106.5 meters and expanded the interpreted thickness of the prospective diorite host from approximately 80 meters to more than 200 meters."

The new drilling results indicate that the mineralized system may extend from surface to more than 700 meters true depth, with the potential for further expansion. The company is currently conducting additional drilling to establish the orientation and continuity of the mineralized structures and to test the extent of the broader mineralized envelope.
