BOSTON, Sept. 23, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Community Catalyst, a leading health advocacy organization, has observed a growing focus on healthcare affordability among voters in the run-up to the midterms. The organization’s #VoteLikeHealth campaign, launched to engage voters on healthcare issues, has garnered significant attention and participation.
According to Shaina Goodman, Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs at Community Catalyst, voters are increasingly concerned about the cost of insurance premiums, the protection of Medicaid, and the high out-of-pocket costs associated with healthcare. Informal polling conducted by the organization revealed that 61% of participants cited insurance premiums as their top healthcare concern, followed by 57% who were worried about the protection of Medicaid and 44% who highlighted out-of-pocket costs.
This sentiment aligns with previous Community Catalyst polling, which found that 73% of people across the political spectrum want the government to play a greater role in regulating and managing healthcare, particularly in reducing costs and ensuring universal access. Notably, this includes over two-thirds of self-identified Republican voters.
The campaign has also encouraged voters to share their personal experiences and perspectives on the healthcare system. Lisa from Louisiana expressed the devastation she has witnessed, including the erosion of public health systems and the financial strain on households. Carole, a retired healthcare executive, highlighted the inefficiencies and cruelty of current healthcare policies, emphasizing the human potential wasted due to these policies. Paul from New Hampshire questioned the profit-driven nature of healthcare, arguing that it prioritizes profit over patient outcomes.
In response to these concerns, the #VoteLikeHealth campaign is equipping voters with materials to address three key pain points in the healthcare system. These include affordability, accessibility, and accountability. Voters are being encouraged to ask candidates how they plan to address the following:
- Affordability: How much is healthcare really costing you, considering not just co-pays and deductibles but also the stress, time, travel, and difficult choices that come with seeking care? - Accessibility: Can you use your coverage when you need it, and does it cover essential services like dental care, mental health, and birth control? - Accountability: Does the healthcare system work for you, or do you work for it? Are there denials, red tape, or surprise bills that make it difficult to receive the care you need?
The campaign aims to ensure that healthcare affordability remains a central issue in the upcoming elections, with voters demanding clear and actionable plans from their representatives.
As the election approaches, Community Catalyst continues to support voters in making informed decisions by providing them with the tools and information necessary to advocate for their healthcare needs.
