SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 08, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Voltus, a leading distributed energy resource platform, has secured $225 million in an oversubscribed Series D financing round. The funding, led by Generation Investment Management alongside Activate Capital and Vitol, will help the company address the growing demand for grid flexibility.

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) forecasts that peak demand will rise by 24 percent over the next decade, more than doubling its previous estimate. This surge in demand highlights the critical need for innovative solutions to ensure the reliability and sustainability of the grid.

Voltus plans to leverage this capital to expand its platform, aiming to reach 20 gigawatts (GW) of capacity by 2030. The company is executing its Bring Your Own Capacity™ (BYOC) program in PJM and MISO, while also expanding its leadership position across the United States and Canada. By tapping into the latent capacity in batteries, cooling systems, and industrial processes at thousands of businesses and homes, Voltus is transforming these resources into reliable power sources.

According to Dave Easton, Partner, Growth Equity, at Generation Investment Management, flexible capacity is the fastest, most cost-effective, and lowest-carbon source of new power. Voltus turns the flexibility of businesses, homes, and batteries into reliable power, helping the AI buildout meet its growing energy needs while reducing the pressure to build new fossil-fuel infrastructure. The company’s experience and commitment position it well to scale a solution that can help the grid meet rising demand more sustainably.

R. Andrew de Pass, Head of Energy Transition Investments at Vitol Inc., emphasized the importance of a resilient power system.

Voltus’s platform connects distributed energy resources to electricity markets, delivering less expensive, more reliable, and more sustainable electricity. By allowing Voltus to maximize the value of its partners' flexible load, distributed generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle resources, participants can lower their energy bills and earn new revenue.

As the grid faces increasing demands, Voltus’s innovative approach is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of the energy system. The company’s expansion plans and commitment to flexibility are expected to make a significant impact on the future of the grid.
