RALEIGH, September 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Vogenx, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapeutics for serious metabolic and gastrointestinal diseases, has announced the appointment of Ken Toombs to its Board of Directors. Effective September 21, 2026, Toombs will serve as an independent director and as Chair of the Audit Committee. His appointment marks a significant step in Vogenx’s strategic growth, as the company continues to scale its operations following its August 2026 initial public offering.
Toombs, a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in the global professional services and life sciences sectors, brings a wealth of expertise to Vogenx. Most recently, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of PA Consulting, a London-based innovation and transformation consultancy. In this role, Toombs led PA Consulting’s Americas business and held global responsibility for the firm’s healthcare, life sciences, and energy and utilities sectors. He also served on PA Consulting’s board and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in October 2020.
Toombs’ extensive background includes his tenure as Global Head of Infosys Consulting, where he oversaw a global practice of over 3,000 consultants. He also held senior positions at Capgemini Consulting, serving as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of its North American business. His experience extends to his time as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and his previous roles at IBM. Recognized for his expertise in strategic development, new venture creation, mergers and acquisitions, and post-merger integration, Toombs holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is based in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.
Vogenx’s CEO and Chairman James Green highlighted Toombs’ alignment with the company’s mission.
Toombs, in turn, expressed enthusiasm about joining Vogenx.
Vogenx is developing its lead product candidate, mizagliflozin, for the treatment of post-bariatric hypoglycemia, gastroparesis, and GIP-dependent Cushing's Syndrome. The molecule, an investigational, first-in-class, orally administered, minimally absorbed small molecule inhibitor of the sodium-dependent glucose transporter 1 (SGLT1), has shown significant promise in clinical studies. Mizagliflozin has been administered to more than 500 subjects in 10 clinical studies, demonstrating reductions in postprandial glucose absorption, GIP secretion, and insulin secretion, as well as improvements in postprandial glucose nadir and hypoglycemia events.
Vogenx’s initial public offering in August 2026 provided the company with the resources to advance its pipeline and pursue strategic growth. The appointment of Toombs to the Board of Directors underscores the company’s commitment to building a strong and experienced leadership team as it continues to scale its operations.
