Vishay Intertechnology launches high-frequency chip resistors for advanced RF applications

MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 03, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Vishay Intertechnology has launched a new series of thin film high-frequency chip resistors that are designed to deliver more power in less space, without the need for heatsinks. These resistors, part of the CHEP series, are built on an advanced aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate and offer exceptional power handling and high-frequency performance in standard surface-mount footprints.
The CHEP series stands out with its high power ratings. Unlike competing solutions, which are often rated below 1 watt (W), the CHEP series delivers standard power ratings of 1.2 W for the 0402 case size and 1.8 W for the 0603 case size. When mounted according to the manufacturer's guidelines, power ratings can increase by 50%, reaching 1.8 W for the 0402 and 2.8 W for the 0603, enhancing power density in smaller packages.
These resistors operate across a wide frequency range, with the 0402 case size supporting frequencies up to 50 gigahertz (GHz) when mounted as flip-chip devices. Wraparound terminals enable operation up to 20 GHz. The 0603 case size can handle frequencies up to 40 GHz. The low internal reactance of the CHEP series, LC values as low as 1 x 10⁻²⁴, minimizes phase shift, maintains consistent impedance, and reduces noise, thereby improving RF performance.
The resistors are available in a range of resistances from 20 ohms (Ω) to 120 Ω with tolerances down to ±1%, and a temperature coefficient of ±100 parts per million per degree Celsius (ppm/°C). Customized tolerances of ±50 ppm/°C are also available upon request. The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, and they operate over a temperature range from -55°C to +155°C.
Designed for telecom and connectivity applications, the CHEP series is ideal for use in low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, base station terminals, 5G and 6G networks, remote radio units (RRUs), and antennas. Aerospace and defense applications include drones, satellite payloads, guidance and telemetry systems, data links, and phased array radar systems. Samples and production quantities of the CHEP series are available now, with a lead time of 16 weeks.
