MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 08, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new medium-precision inductive position sensor encoder, the RAIK045I MP, designed to enhance the reliability and accuracy of industrial applications. This innovative sensor is particularly well-suited for environments close to electric motors, where traditional magnetic encoders may suffer from reduced accuracy due to external magnetic fields.

The RAIK045I MP is a cost-effective alternative to higher-performance encoders, offering 16-bit resolution and a repeatability of at least 14 bits. It can operate at speeds up to 10,000 rpm and is built into a compact, lightweight design, measuring 45 mm in diameter and 6.6 mm in thickness, weighing just 13 grams. The sensor's rotor, which weighs 4.3 grams, contributes to its low inertia, making it ideal for applications requiring precise and repeatable positioning.

According to Vishay Intertechnology, the inductive technology of the RAIK045I MP ensures consistent performance in harsh environments, including exposure to moisture, airborne pollution, vibration, mechanical shock, and temperature fluctuations. This makes it a robust solution for a wide range of industries, including robotics, motor drives, conveyor belt control, automated guided vehicles, off-road vehicles, and agricultural equipment.

The device's ability to provide absolute accuracy of at least 10 bits, equivalent to 0.35 degrees, is particularly valuable for applications such as pitch and yaw control in windmills, wheel position control in cleaning robots, and actuator position control in solar panels, hospital beds, surgical tables, drones, and missile launchers. These applications require high precision and reliability, and the RAIK045I MP is expected to deliver in these demanding environments.

The RAIK045I MP is available in samples and production quantities, with a lead time of 16 weeks. Its off-axis design allows for easy installation on hollow shafts, and it operates within a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. This broad operating temperature range ensures reliable operation even when installed close to electric motors, which can generate heat that reduces the accuracy of magnetic encoders.

Peter Henrici, a spokesperson for Vishay Intertechnology, noted, "The RAIK045I MP is designed to meet the stringent requirements of industrial applications, providing reliable and accurate positioning with minimal interference from external magnetic fields. This makes it a valuable tool for manufacturers looking to enhance the precision and performance of their systems."

The release emphasizes that the new sensor combines high resolution, repeatability, and a lightweight design, making it an attractive option for companies seeking cost-effective and reliable solutions for their industrial needs. With its versatile applications and robust design, the RAIK045I MP is poised to play a significant role in the advancement of precision motion control systems.
