JEJU, South Korea, Oct. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- VIP Plastic Surgery, a Jeju clinic specializing in facial rejuvenation and body contouring surgeries, has been designated an Accredited Medical Tourism Institution by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Justice for the period October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027. This selective status, granted after a review of patient records, compliance history, and any administrative sanctions, places the clinic among the 112 institutions in Korea that hold the accreditation for the upcoming year.
Of the roughly 6,700 institutions registered to treat international patients in Korea, only 112 have earned this prestigious accreditation. Ninety of these institutions are located in the Seoul area, while 22 are outside it, with two on Jeju. This recognition is significant for VIP Plastic Surgery, as it allows the clinic to sponsor electronic medical visas for international patients, making the journey to receive medical treatment more accessible.
The designation comes at a time when Korea is experiencing a surge in international patient visits. According to the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Korea received 2,011,822 international patients in 2025, a 71.9 percent increase from the previous year and the first time the country surpassed the two million mark. Jeju recorded 47,028 international patients, more than double the number from the previous year. Plastic surgery visits on the island rose 163 percent, reflecting a growing trend in medical tourism.
In the eleven months following the Ministry's expansion of its accreditation program in October 2025, medical visa issuance increased by about 40 percent year on year. This growth underscores the increasing demand for medical tourism in Korea, particularly in regions like Jeju, where VIP Plastic Surgery is based.
Founded in 2001, VIP Plastic Surgery has established itself as a leader in the field of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. The clinic has received the 2026 Minister of Health and Welfare Award and holds International Patient Accreditation from the Korea International Medical Association (KIMA). With the new accreditation, VIP Plastic Surgery is well-positioned to continue serving international patients, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for those seeking medical treatment in Jeju.
