Vertical Data Inc, a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company, has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to develop a data center in Central Sweden. The proposed acquisition includes an existing 4.5 MW industrial data center site in the Sollefteå Municipality, with plans to increase power capacity to up to 100 MW.
According to Deven Soni, CEO and Chairman of Vertical Data Inc, the move represents a significant expansion for the company outside the United States.
The Sollefteå Municipality, where the data center site is located, is connected to up to 500 MW of available grid capacity, making it strategically attractive for large-scale data center development. The application for the increased power capacity remains subject to utility, regulatory, and technical processes and approvals.
Soni further elaborated that the project is part of the company's broader strategy to transform existing industrial sites into institutional-grade AI data centers.
Central Sweden's climate, proximity to renewable power generation, and access to fiber and transportation infrastructure make the area an ideal location for data center development. The company is currently focused on satisfying the remaining conditions to closing the acquisition, which is anticipated in the next several weeks.
Site requirements, development costs, customer demand, and financing needs will be assessed upon closing. The completion of the transaction remains subject to financing, corporate approvals, applicable regulatory clearances, and other customary and transaction-specific closing conditions.
Vertical Data Inc, operating three platforms, VerticalData.io for enterprise GPU provisioning and managed infrastructure, GPUfinancing.com for structured financing for GPU deployments, and Vertical Edge for equity in data centers sourced, developed, leased, and managed, continues to expand its global presence. The company's commitment to AI infrastructure and data center solutions underscores its strategic vision for the future of technology and data management.
