This recognition comes alongside other aviation and aerospace pioneers, marking a significant milestone in Estes's career and the company's legacy.

Estes Rockets, founded by Vern and his wife Gleda in 1958, began as a small workshop in Denver, Colorado. Their innovative work, particularly the development of "Mabel," an automated machine that produced safe and affordable model rocket engines, transformed the hobby into a widely accessible activity. This innovation helped introduce millions of people to the science and excitement of powered flight.

Gleda Estes played a crucial role in the company's success, leading business operations, customer relations, and fulfillment. Together, Vern and Gleda built a company that not only thrived but also inspired generations of future aerospace professionals. In 1961, Estes Industries relocated to Penrose, Colorado, where it continues to operate today.

The Estes family's contributions to model rocketry have been profound. For over six decades, model rocketry has served as a hands-on introduction to physics, engineering, and aerospace science. The Estes rockets have inspired countless young people to pursue interests in science, engineering, aviation, and space exploration.

Mallory Langford, the President of Estes Industries, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the company's role in creating opportunities for future engineers, scientists, and aerospace professionals. "Vern Estes didn't just build a company," Langford said.

The National Aviation Hall of Fame, founded in 1962, honors individuals whose achievements have shaped aviation and aerospace history. Vern Estes's induction into this prestigious hall of fame is a testament to his contributions to the field and the impact his work has had on the next generation of aerospace enthusiasts and professionals.

Estes Rockets continues to make the excitement of rocketry accessible to students, educators, and enthusiasts through innovative products and hands-on educational experiences.
