Vencanna Ventures Inc. has announced the voluntary liquidation of its principal operating subsidiary, The Cannavative Group, LLC. Established in 2016, Cannavative was a licensed manufacturer and distributor of recreational cannabis flower and extracted products in Nevada. The company faced ongoing challenges in the highly competitive Nevada cannabis market, despite implementing cost-saving measures.
Over the past two years, Cannavative had focused on reducing expenses by cutting headcount, optimizing transportation logistics, lowering supply costs, and eliminating redundant administrative expenses. Additionally, the company relocated to a new facility to better align with its operational needs, significantly reducing carrying costs. However, these efforts did not prevent the company from operating at a loss.
The decision to wind up Cannavative was made following a thorough review of its operations and financial position. The board of directors of Vencanna's direct subsidiary, AcquisitionCo, determined that Cannavative's continued operations were not economically viable. To ensure a smooth transition, Cannavative has engaged Sonoran Capital Advisors, LLC, as its liquidating agent to oversee the orderly liquidation process.
Vencanna Ventures Inc. will incur one-time costs of approximately C$25,000 to C$50,000 in professional fees and other related charges during the dissolution process. The company is committed to minimizing disruption to all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and suppliers.
David McGorman, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Vencanna Ventures Inc., expressed gratitude to Cannavative's team members for their contributions over the years.
Vencanna Ventures Inc. continues to explore cannabis investment opportunities, particularly in the United States. The company remains focused on adapting to the evolving regulatory landscape and identifying new growth opportunities in the industry.
The voluntary liquidation of Cannavative marks a significant shift in Vencanna Ventures Inc.'s strategic direction. The company will continue to monitor market trends and pursue opportunities that align with its long-term goals.
