AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 8, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Valor Education has been named a Yass Prize finalist and awarded $500,000, a significant honor that underscores the school's commitment to providing a transformative and sustainable educational experience. The Yass Prize, known as the "Pulitzer of Education Innovation," recognizes schools that are Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless in their approach to education.

The prize was awarded at the Power of Innovation Summit in Philadelphia, where Valor was recognized as "Outstanding" for its rapid growth and the exceptional quality of its classical charter schools. These schools now serve 5,000 students across five campuses in Austin and San Antonio, a remarkable achievement that has been driven by a strong demand from families seeking a tuition-free, classical education.

One of the key reasons for Valor's success is its student retention rate, which stands at nearly 90 percent. Additionally, family satisfaction has consistently exceeded 90 percent each year since the schools opened in 2018. The schools have also seen a significant increase in demand, with more than 6,000 students on the waiting list for less than 600 available seats in the past year.

The Yass Prize has recognized Valor's commitment to providing a rich, classical education that is accessible to all students, regardless of background or ability. The prize money will be used to accelerate Valor's growth plan, which includes opening hundreds of new seats in Austin and expanding into the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Executive Vice President Jesse Bates will lead this expansion, aiming to bring Valor's exceptional education to children and families in North Texas.

The Yass Prize, powered by the Center for Education Reform in partnership with Forbes, has awarded more than $84 million to more than 285 organizations serving over 14 million students and families since 2021. The prize recognizes schools that are Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless in their approach to education.

Valor Education exists to educate the whole person in authentic communities for a full human life and is committed to providing high-quality, tuition-free classical education to all students, regardless of background or ability. Through its K, 12 charter schools and the Valor Institute for Studies in Person and Community, Valor forms communities dedicated to wisdom, virtue, and friendship. The institute has hosted more than 150 academic events with professors from across the country, exploring works of literature, philosophy, history, and theology.

The award from the Yass Prize is a powerful confirmation of Valor's educational entrepreneurship. The school started with a desire to renew wonder, to re-ignite education as a search for answers to man's deepest questions. With the $500,000 prize, Valor will be able to launch next-phase construction projects on existing schools in the Austin area and begin a significant expansion into the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

In addition to bringing its charter schools into North Texas, Valor also hopes to expand its Valor Institute for Studies in Person and Community to Irving, Texas, in partnership with the University of Dallas. With a home on the University's campus, the Valor Institute would significantly develop its academic programming, which it offers in partnership with professors from across the country.

The Yass Prize, which has recognized more than 285 organizations serving over 14 million students and families, is a testament to Valor's commitment to providing a transformative and sustainable educational experience. The award underscores the school's success in creating a rich, classical education that is accessible to all students, regardless of background or ability.
