On September 10, 2026, Vallourec, a global leader in premium tubular solutions, broke ground on a new production line for a cutting-edge thermal insulation coating technology at its Serra facility in Espírito Santo, Brazil. This development is part of the company’s strategic expansion in the Brazilian market and marks a significant step in its offshore offerings.
The new production line is dedicated to Proxxima™ resin systems with Goldilocks™ subsea insulation technology (GDLX™), which Vallourec has licensed from ExxonMobil. The technology is designed to deliver enhanced thermal performance, extended cool-down time, and faster execution compared to conventional systems. This advanced solution is expected to support increasingly complex offshore projects in Brazil and international markets.
Philippe Guillemot, Vallourec’s Chairman and CEO, emphasized the strategic importance of the Serra operation during a visit to the site. “This milestone reflects Vallourec’s ability to bring together innovation, industrial excellence, and customer proximity,” said Guillemot. “By implementing Proxxima™ resin systems with Goldilocks™ subsea insulation technology in Brazil, we are strengthening our offshore portfolio and opening new opportunities to support our customers’ most demanding projects with high-performance, integrated solutions.”
The project is part of Vallourec’s broader strategy to strengthen its industrial footprint in Brazil. The facility is strategically located close to the Port of Vitória, making it well-positioned to serve both domestic and export markets. By developing local capabilities, the company aims to contribute to the growth of the regional value chain and support the expansion of Brazil’s offshore industry.
The new production line is expected to complement Vallourec’s existing offerings and reinforce its competitive edge in the premium tubular solutions market. The technology has already been selected for ExxonMobil’s Longtail deepwater project in Guyana, where Vallourec will supply thermal insulated line pipes as part of its broader integrated offshore offering.
Andre Lacerda, Senior Vice President of South America, Tube Activities, highlighted the strategic importance of Brazil within Vallourec’s global footprint. “This investment confirms the strategic role of Brazil within Vallourec’s global footprint. In Serra, we are expanding local capabilities, developing specialized expertise, and reinforcing our commitment to Espírito Santo and to Brazil’s offshore industry over the long term,” said Lacerda.
Vallourec’s commitment to innovation and customer proximity is reflected in its ongoing investments and strategic partnerships. The company’s pioneering spirit and cutting-edge R&D efforts continue to drive technological advancements in the energy and industrial markets. With close to 13,000 dedicated and passionate employees across more than 20 countries, Vallourec remains committed to delivering innovative, safe, competitive, and smart tubular solutions that make every project possible.
