ValleyStar Credit Union recently donated $45,425 to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, marking a significant contribution in the ongoing effort to support local children and their families.

The donation, totaling $45,425, was presented to Macy Ware, Director of Children's Miracle Network at Carilion Clinic, during a ceremony at ValleyStar's Administrative Campus on July 8, 2026. Of this amount, $35,000 was raised through ValleyStar's 30th Annual Golf Tournament, a long-standing community event that has garnered support from sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and community partners. The success of this year's tournament underscores the generosity of those involved, who rallied to make a difference for children in Southwest and Central Virginia.

The remaining $10,425 came from ValleyStar employees' payroll giving program, further emphasizing the collective impact of the credit union's staff in supporting local charitable causes. Woody Windley, Interim President and Chief Financial Officer of ValleyStar Credit Union, expressed gratitude for the contributions made by the credit union community.

"We are proud to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals as part of our commitment to the well-being of the communities we serve," said Windley. "The support from our employees, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners is truly inspiring, and it enables us to make a tangible difference in the lives of local children."

All funds raised through the donation will remain local, supporting essential programs that provide life-saving medical treatments, specialized equipment, and family support services for children receiving care in Southwest and Central Virginia. ValleyStar Credit Union's support ensures that local children have access to the care they need, often at critical moments in their lives.

"This year's fundraising efforts would not have been possible without the dedication of our employees, sponsors, and community partners," said Windley. "Together, we are making a significant impact in the lives of local children and their families."

ValleyStar Credit Union, established in 1953, continues to fulfill its mission of "Employees First. Members Benefit." through exceptional financial services, volunteerism, and charitable giving. The credit union's commitment to its community is evident in its ongoing support of local initiatives and organizations.
