SINGAPORE, Sept. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Valeura Energy Inc. has announced a significant exploration discovery near its Manora oil field, marking a potential game-changer for the company’s Block G1/48. The discovery, named Suraphi, was made through the drilling of the Manora-9 open water exploration well and associated sidetracks, approximately 4.5 kilometers to the northeast of the Manora A platform.
According to Dr. Sean Guest, President and CEO of Valeura Energy Inc., the Suraphi field has encountered several oil-bearing sandstone intervals within the 600-series lacustrine sands. The well intersected oil over a gross column measuring 626 feet, with 162 feet of net oil pay. Another prospect, the D prospect, encountered a similar oil-bearing reservoir section within a gross column measuring 849 feet, with 172 feet of net oil pay. While a third sidetrack did not find hydrocarbons, the success in the D and E fault blocks has effectively de-risked a third adjacent fault block (F).
The discovery of the Suraphi field is expected to justify the development of a new satellite facility on the block. This development could extend the productive life of the Manora field area, utilizing the existing Manora-A processing facility to handle more oil than the Manora field alone. Additionally, the company believes that the Suraphi field could create an opportunity to develop the otherwise-stranded Malida field, located 3.5 kilometers to the east.
The Suraphi discovery is part of a broader exploration and development campaign that Valeura has been undertaking in the Gulf of Thailand. The company has also completed a successful development and appraisal drilling campaign on its Jasmine field, Block B5/27, where it has added producible volumes and identified new opportunities for further organic development.
Dr. Guest expressed satisfaction with the ongoing drilling programme, stating, "Our drilling programme continues to deliver value through all facets of operations, development, appraisal, and exploration. With these successes, we are facing an expanded set of organic investment opportunities, while at the same time continuing to pursue aggressively our inorganic growth ambitions."
Valeura Energy Inc. plans to move immediately into a development planning phase for the Suraphi field, aiming to maximize the value of the discovery and provide scope for future development in the vicinity. Concurrently, the company will conduct studies to plan for the appraisal of the Malida field and re-evaluate nearby exploration prospects for future drilling campaigns.
The Jasmine field drilling campaign has also been successful, with four wellbores completed, two on the Jasmine-C platform and two on Jasmine-D. This includes two horizontal development wells and two dual-objective deviated wells drilled for both development and appraisal targets. The new wells have increased oil production rates from approximately 7,570 barrels per day (before royalties) to around 8,250 barrels per day (before royalties) in the seven-day period after they were brought onstream.
Valeura Energy Inc. intends to resume its Gulf of Thailand drilling operations in early November 2026, initially conducting a drilling programme on its Nong Yao field (Block G11/48, 90% operated working interest), followed by development drilling on the Wassana field (Block G10/48, 100% interest).
The company’s strategy remains focused on delivering value-accretive growth for all stakeholders, underpinned by high standards of environmental, social, and governance responsibility. With the Suraphi discovery and ongoing success in the Jasmine field, Valeura Energy Inc. is well-positioned to continue its growth-oriented strategy in the Gulf of Thailand.
