Vadzo Imaging has introduced the Bolt-2020CRS, a 20-megapixel camera designed for high-resolution vision applications in power-constrained environments. Built on the Onsemi AR2020 HyperLux LP sensor, the Bolt-2020CRS addresses the challenges of traditional high-resolution cameras by integrating advanced features such as Line Interleaved High Dynamic Range (LI-HDR), Smart Region of Interest (ROI) windowing, and Wake-on-Motion functionality.
The camera’s 5120 x 3840 color rolling shutter design ensures detailed image capture, making it suitable for tasks requiring feature-level detection at distance, such as character recognition, license plate reading, and defect classification. The LI-HDR mode allows for high-contrast scene capture without the need for host-side compositing, ensuring usable detail in various lighting conditions. Smart ROI windowing further optimizes bandwidth usage by scaling readout to the region of interest, reducing data transfer and memory buffer requirements. Wake-on-Motion functionality enables the camera to enter a super low-power mode when not in use, significantly reducing energy consumption during idle periods.
According to Vadzo Imaging, these features make the Bolt-2020CRS a valuable tool for applications such as parking enforcement, unattended retail kiosks, perimeter monitoring, and battery-powered inspection units. The Bolt-2020CRS operates across a wide temperature range of -30°C to 85°C and supports various host platforms, including Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 5, Jetson Orin NX, Jetson Orin Nano, Jetson Orin AGX, and NXP i.MX8M Plus. It shares the same V4L2 driver model and device tree path as other cameras in Vadzo’s embedded MIPI CSI-2 camera portfolio, ensuring compatibility and ease of use.
