USAHS Hosts 5th Annual Psychiatric Mental Health Summit

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., Sept. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) is hosting its 5th Annual Psychiatric Mental Health Summit on September 26 at its St. Augustine, Florida campus, with virtual attendance also available.
According to Alberto Salmoiraghi, MB, ChB, MRCPsych, the summit’s featured industry expert, healthcare professionals are often required to offer high-quality mental health services while managing their own stress and burnout. The summit is designed to provide attendees with actionable strategies to address these challenges.
The summit will cover six key pillars: mental health awareness, emotional intelligence, resource access and wellness within clinical and academic settings. These sessions are intended to equip participants with the tools necessary to lead positive change in their respective fields.
Healthcare professionals and students are encouraged to attend, as the summit offers 6.5 contact hours and 0.65 continuing education units for those who complete the full program. USAHS is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation and is also accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
USAHS’s commitment to advancing mental health knowledge across the industry is evident in the sustained success of the summit. The event reflects the growing recognition of the importance of mental health in the healthcare sector, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges faced by health workers and the increasing demand for mental and behavioral health services.
Nearly half of health workers report feeling burned out often or very often, while about one in four report symptoms of mental illness or acute distress. Additionally, 84% of primary care providers say they must play an essential role in meeting rising demand for mental and behavioral health treatment, but only 56% of those providers feel properly trained in this area.
USAHS’s summit is designed to help close this gap by providing practical tools and strategies for healthcare professionals and students. The event is open to registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, licensed clinical social workers, and other behavioral and mental health professionals, as well as current and prospective healthcare students preparing for careers in nursing and behavioral health.
Attendees can register for the summit either in person at USAHS’s St. Augustine campus or virtually. The summit is part of USAHS’s ongoing efforts to support the mental health and well-being of healthcare professionals and the patients they serve.
