ROME, ITALY, October 2, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Eight US wine writers recently traveled to Piedmont, Italy, for a five-day study trip organized by Sip and Savor as part of their campaign to promote European wines and deli meats in the United States and Canada. The trip was specifically focused on the Roero denomination, a region known for its Nebbiolo and Arneis wines. The group, which included contributors to established wine publications and independent platforms such as Cheers Magazine, Wine Review Online, Azure Road, and Wine Predator, spent the week exploring the Roero production area, visiting wineries, and tasting a wide range of wines.
The program began on September 22 and concluded on September 26. Participants were able to taste a broad selection of wines, including Roero Arneis DOCG and Roero Rosso DOCG in their classic and Riserva versions, as well as Roero Arneis DOCG Spumante. A dedicated technical tasting session at the Consorzio Tutela Roero provided a comprehensive overview of the denomination, allowing the group to compare different styles, producers, and winemaking approaches. This direct experience was particularly valuable for wine communicators, as it allowed them to understand not only the different expressions of Nebbiolo and Arneis but also the context in which these wines are produced.
The journey extended beyond the tasting room, offering participants a broader perspective on the agricultural and gastronomic identity of Roero. This included a hazelnut tasting, an encounter with local shepherds, a cheesemaking demonstration, a truffle hunt, a gelato-making experience, and a visit to a beekeeping farm. These activities introduced the group to some of the products, people, and traditions that coexist within the same territory.
The initiative, part of Sip and Savor's campaign to strengthen awareness of the Roero DOCG, was designed to present the denomination in all its complexity. By bringing US wine communicators directly to the production area, the organizers aimed to create a deeper understanding of the relationship between the wines and their place of origin. The campaign, which is co-funded by the European Union, promotes European wines and deli meats in the US and Canada through exclusive content, events, and experiences across North America.
The Consorzio Tutela Roero, the organization responsible for the campaign, is led by Alessandro Costa, who emphasized the importance of direct experiences in understanding the complexity of the denomination.
Sip and Savor, the organizer of the trip, is a three-year campaign that aims to promote European wines and deli meats in the US and Canada. The campaign's initiatives are available on their digital accounts, including their website, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
