United Orthopedic has expanded its U.S. hip portfolio with the introduction of the Momentum Acetabular Cup System, a new FDA-cleared offering that aims to provide surgeons with versatile and efficient tools for hip replacement procedures.
The Momentum system incorporates dual mobility and vitamin E polyethylene liner options, offered in United's EXPE and XPE material. This addition to the company’s portfolio is designed to support a streamlined surgical workflow and expand the range of solutions available to orthopedic surgeons.
One of the key features of the Momentum system is its flush cup-and-liner configuration, which is intended to support a more efficient assembly process. The system also includes an alignment peg featuring a liner post that serves as an insertion reference to help facilitate precise liner positioning and assembly. Additionally, the bossed apical dome with a square-profile tip is designed to maintain secure impactor engagement and minimize the risk of toggling motion and cup dislodgement during impaction.
Another notable feature is the 18-degree taper interface, which is designed to provide a wider lead-in entry compared to the conventional 10-degree taper angle. This feature is intended to help surgeons more easily align and insert the liner, potentially reducing the time and complexity of the procedure.
United Orthopedic Corporation, an international designer, manufacturer, and distributor of orthopedic implant solutions, has been working alongside surgeons and healthcare institutions to develop versatile hip, knee, and limb salvage solutions for over three decades. The company is headquartered in Taiwan, with its U.S. operations based in Irvine, Calif.
The Momentum Acetabular Cup System is now available for surgeons to explore and integrate into their practice, offering a new set of tools to enhance patient outcomes and surgical efficiency.
